Closing the Door on the Density Debate (Graphic)

Check out the graph below which plots city density against transport related energy use.  As we transition to a resource constrained world, is there any question where we need to head on this curve?

  1. Noticeably absent are the South/Central American cities – Buenos Aires, Mexico City, etc. A quick review of the list shows a tight correlation of public transportation network available and urban density would drive energy consumption down.
